Plan Review Information If you would like to submit a sprinkler system or fire alarm system packet, email the address below: The basic objectives of fire protection statutes, rules and regulations, and codes are to safeguard life and property. In general, these objectives are achieved in buildings by providing a safe means of escape or a safe refuge for the occupants in the event of a fire, by designing the building to limit the progress and spread of fire and smoke if one starts, and by providing fire detection and extinguishing equipment or systems. The function of the statutes and building code is to prescribe the minimum fire safety and protection requirements for the building, including means of egress and the fire detection and extinguishment systems.
Wyoming Statues (35-9-108) requires the State Fire Marshal to review and approve new building construction plans and plans for remodeling with costs totaling more than $40,000.00, before beginning any work for the following types of buildings:
If no one has submitted plans to the Department for review, and the building(s) or structure falls within these categories, a violation of the requirements under Wyoming Statutes 35-9-130 has occurred. For additional information on plans, please call the plan review section at (307) 856-8214, or write to: Department of Fire Prevention & Electrical Safety |
