Fire Prevention Division

This Division's responsibilities include the conduction of fire and life safety inspections, construction plan review, code interpretation, and public fire prevention education. The Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety presently conducts fire and life safety inspections on the following types of occupancies within its jurisdiction:

  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Sprinkler Systems
  • Above Ground Storage Tanks
  • New and Remodeled Construction
  • State Owned and Leased Facilities
  • Public and Private Schools
  • Day Care Centers
  • Home Day Cares
  • Hotels and Motels
  • Senior Citizen Housing

NEWS UPDATE: FIRE CONCERNS PROMPT YORK INTERNATIONAL TO REANNOUNCE RECALL OF  GAS FURNACES FOR MANUFACTURED HOMES

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
